Every year on May 18, World AIDS Vaccine Day—also known as HIV Vaccine Awareness Day—celebrates the advancements made in the search for an anti-HIV/AIDS vaccine. A resolution passed during the 1997 World AIDS Vaccine Conference in Paris, which asked for an annual day to encourage the ongoing development of an HIV/AIDS vaccine, led to the creation of World AIDS Vaccine Day. The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), a division of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the United States, along with other groups dedicated to the creation of an HIV/AIDS vaccine, first organized the day.
To mark the anniversary of the very first international AIDS vaccine trial, which occurred in 1997, World AIDS Vaccine Day, also referred to as HIV Vaccine Awareness Day, was initially marked on May 18. Since its creation, World AIDS Vaccine Day has been marked all over the world with a variety of activities to raise awareness of the ongoing attempts to produce a vaccine for HIV/AIDS, including community events, rallies, conferences, and media campaigns. The call to action for AIDS Day in 2023 has been established using last year's topic of reducing inequality for the eradication of HIV/AIDS.
The day also acknowledges the crucial role that community involvement and activism play in the battle against HIV/AIDS. World AIDS Vaccine Day has expanded in recent years to serve as a forum for encouraging the public, scientific community, and governments to support ongoing research into an HIV/AIDS vaccine. The day emphasizes the necessity of ongoing R&D investments and encourages international collaboration and solidarity in the battle against the HIV/AIDS pandemic. We hope Wishes Diary’s attracting World Aids Vaccine Day Captions, Slogans, Quotes, and Statuses will remain a priority in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
